Dorothy Calhoun died on natural causes at 11:21 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Cadiz.
Dorothy was born on Feb. 2, 1924, in Stewart County Tenn., to the late Alfred and Lula Vires Smith.
Dorothy was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church. Dorothy worked as a cook at local restaurants in Trigg County throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Calhoun; one brother; two sisters; and one son, Richard Gail Calhoun.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Wynn of Hopkinsville; best friend, Little Boy; daughter-in-law Sue Calhoun of Cadiz; four grandchildren, Karen Wallace, Ronald Gail Calhoun, Rita Kay Calhoun and Shelly McNichols, all of Cadiz; six great-grandchildren, Joelle McNichols Ellsworth of Durango, Colo., Daniel Wallace, Derek Wallace, Brookelyn Skinner, Christopher Perry and Kaylee Perry, all of Cadiz; and one great-great granddaughter, Alexis Elizabeth Ellsworth of Durango, Colo.
Serving as pallbearers were Billy Joe McNichols, Jimmy Tinsley, Ralph Calhoun, Orbie Dell Calhoun, EJ Calhoun and Burton Aldridge. Music was provided by Tommy and Linda Winn, vocalists; Terry and Linda Smith, vocalists; and Clarissa King, pianist.
