Summer Reading will be starting next Wednesday, July 10, for kids 2 – 12. Aug. 3 is the Middle School and High School Summer Reading. We have a lot of fun for everyone, and prizes too! The Adult Summer Reading prize is a Kindle E-Reader.
“Pam’s Pick” this week is “Dead, White and Blue” by Carolyn Hart, this is a Death on Demand mystery. Annie and her husband, Max, must set a trap for a calculated killer as the Fourth of July firework go off.
New Fiction: “The Broken Places” by Ace Atkins, this is a Quinn Colson novel. Quinn Colson is faced with the release of an infamous murderer from prison. Jamey Dixon comes back to Jericho preaching redemption, some believe him but for the victim’s family, the only thought is revenge.
“The Kill Room” by Jeffery Deaver, this is a Lincoln Rhyme novel. Rhymes and Sachs are looking for a sniper. The investigation turns into a chilling battle of wits against a cold blooded killer.
“House of Earth” by Woody Guthrie, this is the story of the Dust Bowl in America. The story of hardship and hope against a ravaged land.
“Bad Monkey” by Carl Hiaasen, this is a funny tale of greed. Andrew Yancy is a soon-to-be in the Monroe County sheriff’s office but first he must explain why he has a human arm in his freezer.
“Murder As a Fine Art” by David Morrell, this is a historical thriller. Thomas De Quincey, is a suspect in a series of copycat murder forty years ago. He must search for the truth and clear his name
New Large Print: “West Texas Kill” by Johnny D. Boggs, this is a western. Texas Ranger Chance arrives in Texas with a murderer to be put in prison, but when he sees that Captain Hector Savage no longer uses his badge for the good of the land, Chance must set his prisoner free so they can work together to claim back the land and protect the people.
“Outlaw Pass” by Charles G. West, this is a story of family and greed. When Jake Blaine doesn’t return home from a prospecting trip in the gold-rich gulches of Montana, his older brother Adam sets out to find him. But his investigation draws unwanted attention from some very dangerous men. Men who are more than happy to bury Adam to keep their secrets.
New Non-fiction: “American Guns” by Chris Kyle, this is a history of ten U.S. firearms, from the American Long Rifle, to the M16 rifle.
“Savoring the Season with our Best Bites” by Sara Wells, this cookbook has over 100 year round recipes to enjoy with your family and friends. The Patriotic Cupcakes would be great for this weekend!
“Malts & Milkshakes” by Autumn Martin, this book has 60 recipes for frosty, creamy, frozen treats. The s’mores shake sounds amazing but I’m not sure how I feel about the bacon-oatmeal raisin cookie shake!
“That’s Entertainment” by the editors of Reminisce, this book relives the magic of the stars of the movies, television, and radio.
“The Summer of Beer and Whiskey” by Edward Achorn, this is the story of how brewers, barkeepers, rowdies, immigrants, and a wild pennant fight made baseball America’s game.
