Funeral services for Garnett Carr, 90, of Hopkinsville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013, at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. Visitation is scheduled from 4 – 8 p.m. with a Masonic Service beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the funeral home. The Revs. Irvin Darnall and Eugene Powell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Carr Cemetery in Trigg County. Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Garnett Carr died of natural causes at 7 a.m. on July 21, 2013, at Covington’s Convalescent Center in Hopkinsville.

Garnett was born on June 20, 1923, in Trigg County to the late Fay L. and Eva Lena Calhoun Carr.

Garnett Carr was a retired farmer where he farmed in the Newstead Community. Mr. Carr was also a member of South Union Baptist Church in Trigg County. He was a deacon and also held many other offices in the church. Mr. Carr was also a member of the Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121, where he was a 50-year member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Floella Carr; two brothers, Hollis Carr and Howard Carr; and sister Bertha Herndon.

He is survived by one daughter, Faye Hill (and husband Jeff) of Hopkinsville; two nieces, Marilyn Ladd of Cadiz and Carolyn Eddings of Evansville, Ind.; and nephew Jeff Carr of Paducah.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Carr, John Carr, Will Carr, Todd Ladd, Monty Guier, Marty Guier and Larry Bailey. Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Eddings, James Ladd, Cecil Carr, Earl Carr, Jimmie Carr, Glenn Hensley, Freddie Bryant, Wilford Herndon, Jimmy Jones and Donnie Stewart.

Music will be provided by Shirley Farmer, pianist, and Bailey and Outland Family, vocalists.
