Funeral services for Louise T. Thomas, 92, of Frankfort, formerly of Cadiz, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Hal Shipley will officiate. Burial will follow at Starkie Thomas Cemetery in Trigg County. Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Louise Thomas died of natural causes at 6:10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Frankfort.

Louise was born on Aug. 23, 1920, in Christian County to the late Hugh Early and Georgia King Thomas.

Louise was a homemaker. She also served as an emergency school-teacher in a one-room school in Trigg County at Averitt and Oak Grove for nine years. She served as regent, vice regent and secretary of he Trigg County Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she served as song leader, teacher and WMU director.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas H. “Hop” Thomas and four sisters, Pearl Dunn, Edna Hughes, Imogene “Jeanie” Wetton and Rosie Cunningham.

Louise is survived by three sisters, Huel Edwards, Mae Mize, both of Cadiz, and Martha Bush of Frankfort; one son, Richard Thomas (and wife Linda) of Frankfort; one daughter, Tarenda Thomas of Paducah; grandchildren David Sholar, Rick Thomas, Carrie and Douglas Wright, Kristen Thomas; great-grandchildren Meredith Sholar, Hayden Ealy and Douglas Wright, Jr.

Music will be provided by Mark Harris, vocalist, and Jan Oakley, pianist. Memorial donations may be made to Relay For Life of Trigg County, 3140 Parisa Drive, Paducah, KY 42003 or to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40504.
