The budget for the 2013/2014 fiscal year, which started on Monday, July 1, is set at $375,000, almost twice as their 2012/2013 budget of $188,650. Of that, Tourist Commission Executive Director Bill Stevens has estimated $250,000 in revenue from the restaurant tax, which is a tax on all prepared food in the City of Cadiz.
“A budget is a working tool, it is flexible,” said Stevens. “We did a … conservative estimation on restaurant tax revenues.”
Stevens said advertising has been increased. With $75,000 in advertising, $20,000 in sponsorships, $3,000 in promotions and $6,000 in travel shows, the Tourist Commission is spending $104,000 on advertising for all intents and purposes, said Stevens.
