Memorial services for Don Allison, 79, of Cadiz, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Paul Cannon, Damian Phillips and Jack Russell will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until the service hour.

Don Allison died following a short illness at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Spring Creek Nursing Facility.

Don was born on Jan. 15, 1934, in Cleaton to the late Albert Atlas Allison and Maude Keeling Allison.

Don was a member of Canton Baptist Church. He retired after 32 years as an Elementary School Principal from Herbron, Ind. He was a real estate agent for Lake Barkley Realty. Don graduated from Murray State University in 1960 and was a sergeant in the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He was past president of the Lions Club and secretary of the VFW.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Randolph Allison; two sisters, Oleta Walls and Eva Withrow; and two brothers-in-law, Billy Walls and Otis Withrow.

Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon K. Allison of Cadiz; one son, Russell Don Allison (and wife Deirdre) of Evansville, Ind.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Sandy Russell, of Carmi, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Music will be provided by Shari Littlejohn, vocalist; Dianne Hill, vocalist; and Myra Montgomery, pianist.
