“I remember very well in 1966 when it came on the air,” said Shore.
The Trigg County Historical Museum is hosting an exhibit the history of WKDZ – it’s last one, Shore said, until after the outside of the building is stabilized and the windows taken care of. Shore says the first phase of the renovation of the building, which dates back to the 1850s, is scheduled to happen in late October.
Willie Wilson, the first general manager of WKDZ, join current General Manager Beth Mann, other WKDZ employees, Trigg County Judge Executive Hollis Alexander and others during a “soft opening” Friday morning.
“It’s a wonderful display, and Beth (Mann) and all of them have done such a good job, and it still excites me to think about those early days, and what a wonderful opportunity it was to provide something, where before they had no radio station,” said Wilson.
