The Gateway Garden Club met Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the John L. Street Library for their regular meeting.

Advisor Jan Malmer called the meeting to order. Money for Penny Pines was collected for forest restoration. So far this year $30.40 has been given. Becky Oliver read the minutes and they were approved as read.

Kathy Dietrich gave the treasurer report and it was filed as given. Tommie McLellan brought crystal light containers that are nice to use for other things as a recycling project.

The pink bench was offered to Relay for Life and Dannye Wagner thought they would use it in the auction. The discussion was to call it a garden ornament rather than a usable bench.

Maxine Corbey gave a review of the Dig into Gardening that the club members and the Library did with approximately 80 children in July. The club members brought caterpillars for the children to see and discussed butterflies, including the four stages of metamorphosis.
