GOLF: ‘Cats fifth, Chaney sixth at Marshall Invitational

Trigg County’s boys golf team finished fifth out of 12 teams, and Madison Chaney had the sixth-best girls score at Saturday’s Marshall County Invitational at Calvert City Country Club.

The Wildcats, who played without No. 1 golfer Nick Choate, finished with a team score of 329, 29 strokes short of the winner, Graves County. .

Jake Price led the way with an 80, good enough for 17th place overall. Cole Gardner fired an 81, followed by Carter Sholar and Kullen Garner at 84each and Jackson Vinson at 85.

Chaney shot an 84, 16 strokes behind winner Bailey Tyree of Marshall County. Alex Ethridge also played for Trigg, firing a 115.

On Thursday, Trigg’s boys (157) defeated Caldwell County (169) and Hopkinsville (165) at Boots Randolph Golf Course.
