“We want our Flex days to be educational and also fun for students,” said Shannon Burcham, principal of Trigg County High School. “We have certainly learned some things that will make future sessions even better, but today we are celebrating a great first Flex day.”
The development of a Flex day approach was the result of several different factors. The high school made the decision to no longer offer summer school. This means that students must get the help and remediation they need during the school year in order to be successful. Additionally, teachers developed course ideas to extend student learning of core subjects in unique ways.
