Private funeral services for William “Bill” Smith, 87, of Cadiz, were held on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. Randall Evans officiated. Burial followed with full military honors in the East End Cemetery. King’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

William Smith died of natural causes at 6:12 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville.

William was born on Oct. 2, 1925, in Paulding, Ohio, to the late Guy W. Smith and Mona Hoover Smith.

He was a member of Cadiz Church of Christ. William was a retired supervisor of Johnson Controls and had worked as a machinist at Weatherhead Dana, Inc., in Ohio. William was a United States Army veteran having served during WWII.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie May Smith; two brothers, Walter and Paul Smith; one sister, Nellie; and an infant son, John Smith.

William is survived by six sons, Larry (and wife Saundra) Smith of Quincy, Ill., David (and wife Debra) Smith of Paulding, Ohio, Gregory (and wife Peggy) Smith of Reidsville, N.C., Kevin (and wife Debbie) Smith of Champaign, Ill., Chuck (and wife Laura) Smith of Antwerp, Ohio and Gary Smith of Cadiz; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were his sons, Larry, David, Gregory, Kevin, Chuck and Gary Smith. Memorial donations may be made to Cadiz Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1007, Cadiz, KY 42211 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
