Graveside services for Cydonna Vinson, 57, of Hopkinsville, were held on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Wall Cemetery in Wallonia. The Rev. Don Bunch officiated. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Cydonna Vinson died of natural causes at 5:46 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 10, 1956, in Madisonville to June Young and Wanna Jo Brown Penick.

Mrs. Vinson retired from Jennie Stuart Medical Center as a registered nurse. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, was a member of the Kentucky Nurses Association and had volunteered at the St. Luke Free Clinic in Hopkinsville.

Cydonna was preceded in death by her father, June Young; and step-father, Ralph Penick.

She is survived by her husband, Henry R. “Dick” Vinson, Jr. of Hopkinsville; her mother, Wanna Jo Penick of Hopkinsville; three brothers, Lee Penick of Hopkinsville, John Young and Steve Young, both of Madisonville; three sons, John Cherry (and wife Missy) of Hopkinsville, Justin Vinson of Lexington and Rick Vinson of Hopkinsville; and one grandson, Logan Cherry.

Serving as pallbearers were John Cherry, Justin Vinson, Rick Vinson, John R. Vinson, III, John Mark Vinson and Gereald Buster. Memorials may be made to Christian County Humane Society, P. O. Box 1233, Hopkinsville, KY 42241 or to St. Luke Free Clinic, 408 W. 17th St., Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
