Trigg (2-2) got off to a strong start against Kentucky’s top-ranked Class 2A team. Reggie Radford returned the opening kickoff 22 yards, and the offense clicked from there. Luke McKenzie went 3-for-4, hitting Quentin Bird, Tyler Estes and Skylar Pool for 34 total yards. McKenzie also ran twice for 19 yards, and Pool ran twice for 22, including a six-yard score.
Then, Caldwell quarterback Elijah Sindelar and the Tigers took over, scoring the next 49 points. The tying drive ended with Sindelar’s 35-yard pass to DeMetreus Cain, and Caldwell (4-0) took the lead on a 45-yard pass to Jaylen Boyd. Sindelar added a 20-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, then scored on a seven-yard pass to Elijah Anderson and a 24-yard pass to Cain, sandwiched around his one-yard scoring run. Cain scored Caldwell’s only touchdown of the second half on a two-yard run that enacted the running clock for the rest of the night.
