Suffering from what head coach Coby Lewis called a “Caldwell County hangover,” Trigg County struggled throughout a 27-7 Homecoming loss Saturday afternoon against Union County.

In addition to coming off a 49-13 loss the previous week against Class 2A’s top-ranked Tigers, Trigg had to adjust to a last-minute change in schedule. The game against Union was originally set for Friday but postponed due to heavy rain.

“Not to make excuses, but we also had a couple kids taking the ACT in Hopkinsville before the game, coming in and trying to eat lunch and get ready for the game in about 30 minutes,” Lewis said. “Some of the rest decided to sleep in a little. The emotion wasn’t there for our kids.”

The Wildcats had little trouble with Union in a pre-season scrimmage, but Lewis said he had warned his team last week against overlooking the Braves.
