Funeral services for Mary Carol Hampton Carneyhan, 64, of Brownsville, formerly of Trigg County, were held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Mark Thweatt assisted by Scotty Hampton and Carl Heckman officiated. Burial followed in the Wall Cemetery in Wallonia. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Carneyhan died of natural causes at 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green.

Mary was born on Dec. 25, 1948, in Todd County to William “Bill” and Mary Abigail Gibbs Hampton.

Mary was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and she was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Clifford Carneyhan; and brother Bobby Joe Hampton.

She is survived by seven brothers, Tommy Hampton of Hanson and Ronnie Hampton, Jerry Hampton, Billy Hampton, Donnie Hampton, Jimmy Hampton and Danny Hampton, all of Cadiz; five sisters, Linda Webster of Princeton, Ann Burnam, Sue Gail Adams and Ruth Imbush, all of Cadiz, and sister and special caregiver Jean Ritcheson of Brownsville.

Serving as pallbearers were Tommy, Ronnie, Jerry, Billy, Donnie, Jimmy and Danny Hampton. Serving as honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren. Music was provided by Sarah Beth Wade, vocalist, Jennifer Wease, vocalist, and Barbara McIntosh, pianist.
