To the editor:

I would like to express a renewed faith in the young people of our community. Often we fail to compliment the youth who are good citizens and invest far too much time criticizing those who we perceive as ne’er-do-wells.

Last weekend, Southern Kentucky Independent Theater produced Dining with the Dearly Departed 2013, our most ambitious event to date. The nature of this event required a large number of volunteers. Three groups of students volunteered their time to help make this a success.

Trigg County High School FFA supplied students to help with parking and traffic. Beta Club and Interact supplied volunteers to help with food and table busing duties. These students are excellent citizens. They were polite and eager to be helpful. They deserve recognition for their contribution to making Trigg County special. Also, thanks to their sponsors who also took the time to accompany them.

This attitude among our young people will insure that our community will continue to be a unique and wonderful place to live. To these students, thank you for your help and for being good citizens.
