The Wildcats (3-3), coming off a blowout loss against Caldwell County and a disappointing followup performance in a 27-7 defeat against Union County last week, displayed improvement against the winless Storm. Trigg doubled Hopkins Central’s offensive output and activated the running clock with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
“We played well and we played hard,” Trigg head coach Coby Lewis said. “We told the kids that there was one thing we asked of them, and that was effort. Forget mistakes and everything else, just play hard and fast all night, and they did that. Then they came out in the second half and played even harder. I was proud of that.”
Trigg got on the board with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Luke McKenzie to Quentin Bird with 7:26 left in the first quarter. Near the end of the frame, Reagan Hyde connected on his first career field goal, splitting the uprights from 37 yards.
