Lucy “Lou” Brooks died on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the Montrose Health Center in Iowa.
She was born on July 17, 1926, in Trigg County to Reginald C. and Sara Alice Wadlington.
Lucy “Lou” made her home in the Keokuk area in 1966. She and her husband Ed were the owner-operators of Brooks Erection, building communication towers across the United States, Keokuk Motor Lodge, the Knotty Pine Restaurant in Keokuk and the Mericana Moter Lodge in Ft. Madison. She was honored by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force for support and contributions made to pursue drug arrests. She attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk. She also served as president of the South Sioux City PTA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ed Brooks; infant sister Martha Francis; brother Reginald C. Wadlington, Jr., of Cadiz and Frank Wadlington of Seymour, Mo.
