“Due to the lapse in federal government funding, the USDA Forest Service Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area, as with other federal agencies, is closed with the exception of certain essential services,” the LBL web site said. “We sincerely regret this inconvenience.”
LBL officials were unable to be reached at press time. The USDA’s web site similarly says, “Due to the lapse in federal government funding, this website is not available. After funding has been restored, please allow some time for this website to become available again.”
Lake Barkley State Resort Park Administrator John Jordan said the state park, being operated via state dollars instead of federal dollars, is open in spite of the government shutdown.
