October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! This has most women over 40 thinking pink. As one of those women “Pam’s Pick” this week is “Dr. Susan Love’s Breast Book” by Susan M. Love, M.D., this book has the most up to date information on breast cancer and ways to help prevent this awful killer.

New Fiction: “The Highway” by C. J. Box, a serial killer is on the hunting innocent victims. Cody Hoyt, a former investigator is on the trail of two missing girls. The girls’ car trouble puts them in the path of a killer who drives an 18-wheeler. Can Cody find them in time?

“Ghosts Know” by Ramsey Campbell, this is a fascinating story of the fine line between the dead and the living. Graham Wilde is a radio talk show host, who enjoys provoking his guests. After embarrassing psychic Frank Jasper on the air he next hears from him when he suggests that Wilde might be behind the disappearance of a young girl.

“The Final Cut” by Catherine Coulter, this is the first book in the Scotland Yard’s Chief Inspector Nicholas Drummond new series. Drummond travels from London to Manhattan to find a thief known as the Fox, who has stolen the Koh-i-Noor diamond, the centerpiece of the Queen’s crown. (also in large print)

“The Quest” by Nelson DeMille, this is the story of four partners who begin a quest to find the Holy Grail after getting a tip from a dying priest. The four are caught in the center of an Ethiopian civil war as they begin their deadly adventure. Will they find what they are looking for?

“Songs of Willow Frost” by Jamie Ford, this book will take you on an emotional journey of discovery. William a 12-year-old orphan thinks he sees his mother on the silver screen. He is determined to find out if it is his mother.

“The Shadow Tracer” by Meg Gardiner, this is an electrifying thriller. Sarah is a skip tracer, a person who tracks down those who are running from the law. When Sarah’s daughter Zoe is in an accident it is revealed that Sarah is not her biological mother. Now on the run Sarah hopes her skills will keep her and Zoe safely off the grid.

“Declan’s Cross” by Carla Neggers, this is a Emma Sharpe & Colin Donovan novel. Sharpe and Donovan are concerned when their friend Julianne travels to the Irish village to recover from a breakup. Julianne’s friend is found dead and Sharpe and Donovan must solve the case. (also in large print)

New Christian Fiction: “Words Spoken True” by Ann H. Gabhart, this is the story of one woman’s stand to defend her newspaper at the risk of losing out on love. Adriane was raised in her father’s newspaper office, when Blake Garrett takes over the competing newspaper the battle for readers get fierce.

“Eventide” by Shelley Shepard Gray, this is book three in the Days of Redemption series. Elsie Keim is a young Amish woman with a secret. If she shares the truth with the man she hopes to marry will he still love her?

New Mysteries: “The Darling Dahlias and the Texas Star” by Susan Wittig Albert, this is book four in the Darling Dahlias series. The Dahlias are hosting the Watermelon Festival with Dare Devil the Texas Star Lily Dare. When Miss Dare is threatened and her plane sabotaged the Dahlias go to work. (this book includes Southern style Depressions Era recipes)

“Killing Custer” by Margaret Coel, this is a Wind River mystery. When Colin Morningside, a descendant of Crazy Horse, is accused of murdering a General Custer impersonator, Father John and Vicky must find the truth. The truth leads them into a deadly conspiracy.

New Biographies: “The Outsider” by Jimmy Connors, this is the complete, uncensored story of Connors’ life and career. He set records, broke rules and made the game of tennis a national loved past time.

“Wilson” by A. Scott Berg, this is the story of President Woodrow Wilson, one of the great American figures of modern times.
