Trigg County High School’s girls soccer team finished the regular season with a record of 4-8-1 after a loss last Tuesday at Paducah Tilghman and a 6-1 Senior Night win last Wednesday over Crittenden County.

At Tilghman, Brittany Shafer scored Trigg’s only goal. Against the Lady Rockets, Shafer netted three goals and assisted on another, while Hannah Futrell scored two and assisted on two and Jaycie Sittig connected on a penalty kick.

The top-seeded Lady Wildcats were set to host Lyon County on Tuesday in the 5th District Championship game. At press time, the weather forecast had cast some doubt on whether the game would be played as scheduled or postponed to Thursday. Regardless, both teams automatically qualify for the 2nd Region Tournament, which will be held next week at Madisonville.

The top-seeded Lady Wildcats were set to host Lyon County on Tuesday in the 5th District Championship game at the Trigg County Recreation Complex, but the schools elected to delay the game until 7 p.m. Thursday due to Tuesday’s weather forecast of heavy rain.

Both teams automatically qualify for the 2nd Region Tournament, which will be held next week at Madisonville.
