Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam announced Sunday night that he’s running for a second term.

“I promise that if I’m reelected to not change a thing in how I conduct myself and investigate all criminal activity,” Burnam said. “I promise to not be intimidated by anyone and to do what is right even if I have to do it alone. I promise to never back down to anyone or anything and always put the oath I took above any order I’m given.”

Burnan also promised to not give up on unsolved murder cases and to do what he can to “put the right person(s) in prison.” Last year, he had personally offered $1,000 to people who had information that led to arrests in the 1980 Kenneth Ladd murder case, the June 2002 Chantell Humphries murder case and the 2008 Harvey Choat murder case.
