Trigg County has one last chance at hosting a first round playoff game after Friday’s 27-6 loss to Paducah Tilghman.

The Wildcats (4-4, 1-1 in Class 3A 1st District play) must win Friday at Fort Campbell (3-5, 1-1) to claim the No. 2 spot in the district behind Tilghman (4-5, 2-0).

Against the Blue Tornado, Trigg put forth a solid effort against a team that is better than its overall record indicates, Wildcat head coach Coby Lewis said.

“They’ve got four guys that I think are legitimate Division I football players,” Lewis said. “Those guys are older, and you look around and we’re starting freshmen and sophomores at some spots. I feel like our kids played as hard as they could have possibly played. We just made mistakes here and there, and when you do that, a team like Tilghman makes you pay for it.”
