Fishing team holds club events

Trigg County High School’s bass fishing team has competed in two club events so far this year.

On Sept. 19 on Lake Barkley, Mason Shelton and Drake Oliver won first placed with four fish at 10.06 pounds. Douglas Colston and Jordan DeSpain finished second (three, 5.71 pounds), Zach Colbert and Austin Greene were third (two, 5.37 pounds) and Nick Summers and Shelby Johnson fourth (one, 1.92 pounds). Greene had the biggest catch, a 3.13-pound smallmouth.

Saturday, the team fished Kentucky Lake. Colston and DeSpain were first (five, 10.98 pounds), followed by Skylar Pool and Cameron Knaiz (four, 8.46 pounds), and Shelton and Oliver (one, 3.84). Shelton had the biggest bass (3.84 pounds), and Shelton caught a 13.22-pound Asian Carp.

The team will compete with Muhlenberg County on Saturday at Lake Beshear.
