Funeral services for Dannie Sanders Thomas, 96, of Hopkinsville, were held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Don Mock officiated. Burial followed at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dannie Thomas died of natural causes at 12:19 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Morningside of Hopkinsville.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1917, in Trigg County to Joseph Hooker and Hazel Mitchell Sanders.

Dannie Thomas was a member of South Union Baptist Church and she was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy C. Thomas; two brothers, Rev. Nacy Sanders and George Taylor Sanders; one sister, Juanita Adams; three grandchildren, Mike Combs, Christie Thomas and Leigh Anne Brown; and one great-grandchild, Evan Combs.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph “Joe” Thomas of Chillicothe, Ohio, Lacy “Roy” Thomas of Hopkinsville and Danny Hale Thomas of Cadiz; one daughter, Ginger Stearman of Madisonville; grandchildren Carol Huber, Emily Pyle, Dannei Poirier, Stephanie Thomas, Alan Combs, Clint Combs; great-grandchilren Erin Brown, Devyn Combs, Evan Combs, Zach Combs, Megan Combs, Mikala Huber, Elise Brown, William Thomas Powell, Ethan Mayes, Kurt Thomas, Gavin Poirier and Myka Poirier.

Serving as pallbearers were Alan Combs, Clint Combs, Jim Pyle, Gary Poirier, Charles Ellis and Mike Hale. Music was provided by Cynthia Ellis, pianist.
