Matt Riddle, a local businessman and a former law enforcement officer, said he plans to file to runfor Trigg County Sheriff on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

So far, Riddle’s only opponent in the race is current Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam, but Riddle says he’s running to give back to the community that has given so much to him and his family. He said he intends to run a clean campaign.

He said the community was so helpful to his family when his fourth son Dylan died in 2011 from a brain tumor.

“So many people stepped forward and offered help,” said Riddle. “That’s been my darkest hour, is what happened to him, and trying to save his life. There were so many acts of generosity from the community, and I feel like this is the best way to repay that.”
