Trigg County High School’s volleyball team ended its season with losses in the 5th District Tournament Championship and the first round of the 2nd Region Tournament.

Last Tuesday, Trigg (11-20) opened the district tournament with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 25-20, 25-15) win over host Crittenden County. The championship match was played immediately after, and the Lady Wildcats lost 3-0 (17-25, 21-25, 20-25) to Livingston Central.

Trigg drew 7th District champ Caldwell County in the first round of the region tournament Monday at Livingston Central. The Lady ‘Cats jumped out to a strong start, losing the first game 21-25 and hanging with the Lady Tigers through the first half of the second game before falling 12-25. Caldwell’s strong hitters were too much for Trigg in the third game, which ended 25-7.

“We came out much better than I expected,” Trigg head coach Jewels Williams said. “I haven’t seen them play that good. I was pleasantly surprised. We got down later on, but if we can fix that next year, I think we can play with them.”
