Last Monday, the TSCO started what Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam called a “proactive detail,” charging anyone who “intentionally or wantonly causes an inconvenience on the roadway by creating a traffic hazard” with first-degree disorderly conduct.
Burnam said this action was prompted by complaints of kids walking, stopping and riding bicycles in the middle of the road – primarily on Cunningham Avenue – and not getting out of the way when cars approach.
“In fact the complaints are that they curse and flip the drivers off. My phone’s been getting torn up with calls,” Burnam said. “Our intent is to ensure no one gets hurt and to protect both kids and the adult drivers. We don’t want the kids to get run over, but we also don’t want any road rage and things like that happening.”
