A Cadiz man died last Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Interstate 24 and the Pennyrile Parkway, said a report by Troopere Stu Recke of Post Two of the Kentucky State Police.

Carl F. Mason, 63, of Cadiz, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at approximately 4:41 p.m. by the Christian County Assistant Coroner, the report said.

The report indicated that Mason was driving eastbound on I-24 and was trying to exit onto the Pennyrile Parkway at Exit 81 when he lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway.

The report said that witnesses to the crash told investigators that prior to the crash, Mason’s vehicle was making abrupt lane changes, driving off onto the median and passing in the right line.

Mason tried to exit onto the Parkway but failed to negotiate the curve, and his vehicle left the left shoulder of the road and went down an embankment, the report said. The vehicle then overturned and hit a ditch filled with large rock and finally stopped on its top in the ditch, the report added.
