The time to file for public office started last Wednesday, and already two people have filed to run for Trigg County Clerk, including a nephew of former Trigg County Clerk Wanda Thomas.

Last week, Donavan Washer, Thomas’ nephew, and Carmen Finley filed to run for the position, which is currently held by Dorris McGill. McGill is filling the remainder of Thomas’ term – she retired in early 2012 – but she has decided not to seek a full term in office.

“Cadiz is my home,” said Finley, who works for PACS-RSVP (Pennyrile Allied Community Services – Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) in Hopkinsville. “I want to serve the public.”

Meanwhile, McGill said she is looking forward to retirement. She has worked in the Trigg County Clerk’s Office since August 1983, when she was a deputy county clerk under then-Trigg County Clerk Virginia Alexander. She became the Trigg County Clerk in March 2012.
