A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Robert Head, 83, of Cadiz, was held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at St. Peter Alcantara Church at Stanley in Daviees County. Father Jegin Puthenpurackal officiated. Burial will be held at a later date. Per his wishes, there was no viewing. King’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Charles died peacefully of natural causes at 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at his home.

He was born on Dec. 24, 1929, in Daviess County to Clarence G. Head and Roxy Hardy Head.

Charles was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He was a retired life-long plastering contractor and businessman. For the past 17 years he had lived in the Barkley Lake area because of his love to Crappie fish. He was a friend and mentor to many people. Always having his hand out to shake another’s. He loved to fish, put out a community garden and helping others.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister Sarah Head Brumley; and four brothers, Leo, Martin, Kenneth and George Head.

Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Millay Head of Cadiz; five sisters, Marian Lee of St. Joe, Margaret “Lutzie” Bickett (and husband Edmond) of Ridgeway, Ill., Ann Clouse (and husband Richard), Martha Rose Roussell and Wilma Jean Sims (and husband Larry), all of Owensboro; two sons, Michael W. Head (and wife Glenda) of Cadiz and Bruce A. Head (and wife Jayme) of Ocala, Fla.; daughter, Brenda C. Head (and partner Ruth Lechner) of South Hampton, Pa.; six grandchildren, Daniel, Tim, Jim, Justin, John and Seanpatrick; and three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ashton and Aubrey; and many nieces, nephews, friends and fisherman.
