Roy Hancock died on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tenn.
Roy was of the Baptist faith. He had worked for 45 years in river barge transportation as a pilot and captain and recently was employed by Marquette Transportation.
He was preceded in death by father Luther Hancock; mother Aug.a Carpenter Hancock; six brothers, Tom Hancock, Charles Hancock, Lewis Hancock, Ernest “De De” Hancock, Leslie Hancock and Doug Hancock; three sisters, Ann Hardy, Margurite Hancock and Laura Humphries.
Roy is survived by two brothers, Bob L. Hancock and Franklin D. Hancock; four sisters, Mary Edmonds, Linda Thomas, Judy Edmonds and Helen Hite, all of Cadiz; daughter Katie Hancock of Madison, Tenn., step-daughter, Kristen Everhart of Hot Springs, Ark.; and two grandchildren, Noek and Halen Johnson.
Serving as pallbearers were Nick Edmonds, Jerry Stroud, Ricky Hamilton, JC Swinford, David Hardy, Milburn Hardy and Charlie Ennis. Honorary pallbearers were co- workers with river barge transportation. Music was provided by Teresa Simpson, pianist and vocalist.
