Funeral services for Kelsie Calhoun, 84, of Cadiz, were held on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Cadiz Baptist Church. The Revs. Paxton Redd and Kyle Noffsinger officiated. Janet, Lauren and Zachary Calhoun gave the eulogy. Burial will be at a later date at East End Cemetery in Cadiz. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Kelsie Calhoun died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Saint Thomas Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

During his youth and early years, Mr. Calhoun had labored as a farmer in the Land Between the Rivers. After the dissolvement of Golden Pond, Mr. Calhoun moved to Cadiz and worked at Goodwin Funeral Home and Ambulance Service and later began his career as the owner and operator of the IGA, and later the Cadillac Ice Company and the Calhoun Home Outlet Store.

During recent years, he served at the Cadiz Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center as an information guide and local historian. He participated in several local activities and events over the years, one in particular was the Wild Hair Hilltoppers and his love and fondness of the Land Between the Rivers never faded. He was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church where he had served as deacon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Higgins Calhoun; his parents, Roy Calhoun and Mary Calhoun Luton Ahart; step-father, Seldon Ahart; one son, Tracey Calhoun; one step-son, Mike Allen; and one step-grandchild, Darla Kay Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Allen Calhoun of Cadiz; one sister, Edna McKinney of Murray; one son, Mike Calhoun (and wife Janet) of Hopkinsville; two step-sons, Jerry Allen of Eddville and Barry Allen (and wife Gina) of Cadiz; grandchildren, Zachary Calhoun, Nick and Ashley Calhoun, Lauren Calhoun (and fiancé Ben Trimmer); step-grandchildren, Jessica and Shane Fuller, Chelsey and Rev. Paxton Redd, and Austin Allen (and fiancé Cheyy); great-granddaughter, Emma Claire Calhoun; step-great-grandchildren, Ryan Fuller, Elli Redd, Lydia Redd, Ada Redd and Anna-Belle Allen.

Music was provided by Gary Thompson, pianist and Ann Taylor lead the congregational hymns. Memorial donations may be made to, Cadiz Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 65, Cadiz, KY 42211.
