Next Tuesday’s 5th District matchup in Marion between Trigg County and Crittenden County will leave one team with a 3-0 record in district play.

Last Tuesday, the Wildcats knocked off Lyon County 74-57 in a game in which senior guard Cole Gardner scored his 1,000th career point.

The ‘Cats struggled early, trailing 20-13 late in the first quarter. However, Trigg ended the first half on a 26-5 run, including a 20-0 stretch that ended with a 39-25 lead.

The Lyons pulled within six points late in the third quarter, but a basket by Gardner and three straight baskets by Luke McKenzie put Trigg ahead by double digits.

Gardner finished the night with a game-high 16 points. Tae Day added 14, while McKenzie had 13 and Demaria Nance had 10.
