Funeral services for Rachel Calhoun Boddy, 67, of Cadiz, were held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Don Bunch officiated with Carloyn Bland giving the eulogy. Burial followed in the Freeman Family Cemetery in Trigg County. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Rachel Boddy died on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Latimer County Hospital in Wilburton, Okla.

Mrs. Boddy had worked at Johnson Controls and had recently retired in January 2013 after working 30 years at the Trigg County Senior Citizen’s Center in Cadiz.

Over 30 years at the Center, she worked as administrator, office aid, bus driver, homemaker director, meal deliverer, cook and had performed various maintenance duties. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Thomas Bridges Association, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), South Road Volunteer Fire Department, and she was a Kentucky Colonel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Odell Calhoun and Emma Belle Freeman Calhoun; one brother, Lonnie Eugene Calhoun; and one sister, Wilma Marie Calhoun.

Rachel is survived by her husband of 47 years, James Boddy of Cadiz; three brothers, Orbie and Judy Calhoun, Ralph and Wanda Calhoun and Ernest and Lisa Calhoun, all of Cadiz; one sister, Ruth and Wilford Herndon of Cadiz; sister-in-law Mary Calhoun of Cadiz; two sons, James Everett Boddy, Jr. (and wife Barbara) of Burkburnett, Texas and John Thomas Boddy of Louisville; three daughters, Lorie Ann and Randall Joiner of Hopkinsville, Tina Elaine and Christopher Adams of Salyersville and Brenda Kay Boddy of Cadiz; one step-daughter, Roswitha and Alfred Jaworski of Kaiserslautern, Germany; eight grandchildren, Kory Tyler, Christen Tyler, Brady Dehnert, Landon Boddy, Darren Boren, Michael Adams, James Adams and Thomas Adams; three step-grandchildren, Angelique Jaworski, Nicole Jaworski and Alicia Jaworski; five great-grandchildren, Kylee Chambers, Kenna Chambers, Kolbey Tyler, Karter Tyler and Cayse Tyler; and three step-great-grandchildren, Adrianna Jaworski, Christiano Jaworski and Gabrielle Jaworski.

Serving as active pallbearers were E.J. Calhoun, Orbie Calhoun, Ralph Calhoun, Wilford Herndon, JR Calhoun and Kory Tyler. The music was provided by Kathy Glover, Adam Glover and Becky Freeman.
