The Kentucky State Police is investigating the apparent drowning death of an Evansville, Ind., woman who was found in Lake Barkley at Prizer Point Marina last Tuesday.

KSP Post One Trooper (and Public Information Officer) Jay Thomas said that no foul play is suspected in the death of Mary P. Hatley, 62.

He wrote that she was on a houseboat that was docked at Prizer Point Marina with her husband and another couple from Evansville, Ind., when she went outside to smoke late Monday night and never returned.

She slipped off the boat, fell in the water and drowned, Thomas said. He added that while alcohol was “definitely” a factor, they don’t know yet how much of a factor it was.

Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson said the toxicology report wouldn’t be in for about a month but echoed Thomas’ statement that no foul play was involved.
