The five-county Regional Recycling Corporation, which represents Trigg, Livingston, Caldwell, Crittenden and Lyon Counties, takes recyclables to the Correctional Complex.

University of Kentucky Extension Agent Janeen Tramble said that students from Kindergarten to senior year from these five counties participate in an annual trash sculpture contest, and the winners from each of the five counties get to go to a regional competition.

Tramble said there were 159 entries in Trigg County. The prize money that the winners receive comes back from the Regional Recycling Corporation, said Tramble.

The winners are as follows: First place lower elementary, Cameron McCormick will receive $60; First place upper elementary, Hannah Mitchell will receive $60; Second place upper elementary, Mason Oliver will receive $40; Third place upper elementary, Zoi Burcham will receive $25; First place middle school, First place at regional and county best of show, Summer Depew will receive $260; Second place middle school, Second place at regional, Olivia Lingenfelter will receive $140; and Third place middle school, Garrett McCormick will receive $25. The teacher with the highest percentage of participation is Lisa Calhoun, who will receive $50.
