Last week, the Wildcats earned a pair of road district victories – 67-57 last Tuesday at Crittenden County and 60-38 Friday at Lyon County.
So far, Trigg is the only team in the district (which also includes Livingston Central) to not play a district game that finished with a final margin in single digits.
At Crittenden, the ‘Cats held a comfortable lead for much of the game but had to weather a late surge by the Rockets. Trigg led by 17 midway through the second quarter and kept the margin in double digits for much of the second half, leading by as many as 19 after a Debo Mayes basket early in the fourth. Crittenden then went on an 18-5 run that cut the gap to six, but Corbin Estes was perfect from the free throw line in the final minute to seal the win.
Tae Day led Trigg with 19 points and 15 rebounds, and three other ‘Cats scored in double figures – Estes (13), Mayes (11) and Demaria Nance (11).
