Gaylon Hargrove died on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Christian Health Center in Hopkinsville.
Mr. Hargrove retired as an electrician having worked at Ft. Campbell and he also retired from Johnson Controls in Cadiz. Gaylon had taught at the former Golden Pond School. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, was a Master Mason and dual member of Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121 and the Alford-Hardin Masonic Lodge No. 925. Gaylon was also a member of Ophelia Chapter No. 55 and West Land Village Chapter No. 445 order of the Eastern Star.
Gaylon Hargrove was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Bridges Hargrove; his parents, Samuel J. Hargrove and Jewel Douglas Colson Hargrove; brother Howell E. Hargrove; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dora Mae and Joe Cossey and Sammie Louise and Terry Berg.
Gaylon is survived by three nephews, Doug Hargrove (and wife Mindy) of Cadiz, David Hargrove (and wife Karen) of La Vergne, Tenn. and Samuel Cossey (and wife Pam) of Hopkinsville; one niece, Rev. Mera Cossey Corlett (and husband Kevin) of Louisville; one great-niece, Mera Kathryn Corlett of Louisville; and one sister-in-law, Edna B. Hargrove of Cadiz.
Serving as active pallbearers were Kevin Corlett, Doug Hargrove, David Hargrove, Samuel Cossey, Hugh Roberts, Jr., Dan Sheehan, Kenneth Oakley and Joe Oakley. Music was provided by Mark Harris, vocalist and Jan Oakley, pianist.
