A Trigg County woman died in a Friday morning house fire in the 1000 block of Rocky Ridge Road that Kentucky State Fire Marshal Bill Compton is investigating.

Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson declared Dorothy Mitchell, 75, of Cadiz, dead after she was found inside the home. After an autopsy performed later that morning at the Western Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office, the M.E. gave a preliminary ruling that she died because of smoke inhalation, said a report by Kentucky State Police Post One Spokesman Jay Thomas.

The report stated that while the cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined, no foul play is currently suspected.

“As of this morning, there was no determination on where it started,” Vinson said on Friday.
