Trigg County Midcat Wrestlers took third place out of 13 teams in district competition on Saturday at McCracken County High School. It’s the highest Trigg Middle has finished at a district competition. Nine wrestlers will travel to regionals on Saturday, Jan. 25, in Union County, including seven competitors and two alternates.

“I was very proud of all our wrestlers,” said head coach Ralph Stevens. “They have worked hard this year, and we’re starting to see the results of that hard work. This is a young group of kids with a lot of first-time wrestlers. If they stay together, the future looks good for Trigg County wrestling.”

Individual results are:

Colin Stevens, 1st place, 113 pounds

Justin Crabtree, 2nd place, 121 pounds

Taylor Hampton, 3rd place, 130 pounds

Jared Bellengee, 3rd place, 140 pounds

Ethan Futrell, 4th place, 75 pounds

Isaac Aguiar, 4th place, 86 pounds

Cole Darnell, 4th place, 240 pounds

Jordan Hampton, 5th place, 80 pounds

Keegan Slone, 6th place, 75 pounds
