Trigg County junior Mallory Mize set a pair of school records during the Lady Wildcats’ 47-28 win Thursday against Fort Campbell.

Mize finished the night 24-for-30 from the free throw line, topping a pair of single-game marks set by Karen Johnson – free throws made (Johnson made 19 against East Hardin on Feb, 11, 1978) and free throws attempted (Johnson attempted 29 against Crittenden County on Feb. 3, 1977).

Mize’s 24 made free throws rank in a tie for fifth in the state, and her 30 attempts tie for the fourth-highest total. Wayne County’s Ashley Bell set the current state record in 2003, going 32-for-37 in a game against Lincoln County.

“I noticed around the four-minute mark of the third quarter that she’d been to the line several times,” Trigg head coach Russell Malone said. “She was 12-for-12 in the third quarter. We wanted to give ourselves the best chance to win, and she was getting to the line pretty frequently. I’m very proud of her. She works on free throws and is aware that it’s a way to gain extra points.”
