Last Wednesday, the Kentucky Board of Education recognized the Trigg County School District as a District of Innovation, making it one of only seven of the state’s 174 school districts to receive the status.

Trigg County Schools College and Career Planner Cammie Evans said this designation, which Trigg County Board of Education members unanimously approved in October last year, will allow the school district to waive certain regulations to give students a better education.

“We are excited about what District of Innovation status will mean for Trigg County students and our community,” said Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby. “The recognition by the Kentucky Board of Education affirms that the innovative work that we have started and our future plans are on target. We are confident that the innovative practices being implemented will expand opportunities for our students and enable them to be more prepared for college, career, and life.”
