Memorial services for Mr. Charles “Charlie” Newton, 58, of Cadiz, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West in Hopkinsville. Richard Stanley will officiate with inurnment to follow in the cemetery. Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Newton died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his home.

Charlie was of the Protestant faith. He was a Retired Sergeant First Class after having served for 20 years with the United States Army. Charlie belonged to the VFW post while serving in Germany. He also served in the Funeral Detail Squad while at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Charlie enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father Clinton Newton; mother Marie Newton Blanchard; and two daughters, Erin Lynn Newton and Ryan Anne Newton.

Charlie Newton is survived by two sisters, Simone Collins of Lowell, Vt. and Denise Sledge, also of Vermont; brother Norman Newton of Arizona; one daughter, Michele Newton Abbott of Glastonbury, Conn.; three grandchildren, Marcus Murano, Harris Abbott and Cora Abbott, all of Glastonbury, Conn.; and special friends Joey Hall and Wanda Gannon.
