Stevens wins region wrestling title, qualifies for state with Gallogly, Turner

Three wrestlers from Trigg County High School have advanced to the 2014 state championship meet Friday and Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. They, along with three teammates who will attend the meet as alternates, earned the trip with their performances Saturday at the 1st Region championship meet in Paducay.

Aaron Stevens, who holds a 27-3 record this season, qualified in the 195-pound weight class, while Ryan Gallogly (20-7) will compete in the 145-pound class and Devonta Turner (24-13) advanced at 106 pounds. Stevens won the region championship in his class, while Gallogly and Turner each finished fourth.

Daniel Ingram and Justin Crabtree, who each finished fifth in their classes, and Jaishon Faishon, who finished sixth in his, will be alternates at state.

Trigg finished eighth overall at the region meet.

Head coach Ralph Stevens sand Trigg’s wrestlers are preparing for each match as if it was their last.
