An LCD sign in front of the I-24 Commerce Center is still in the planning stages, Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist and Convention Commission Executive Director Bill Stevens said.

“To get some information to start flowing … we will be discussing some more options on the LCD sign,” Stevens told Commission members when they met there Thursday afternoon. “From what I’ve seen so far … they are pretty much anything we want.”

A larger or taller sign would be seen by more people farther away, Stevens said. One of the reasons for the sign, which is proposed to have two sides, is to have different messages displayed at different times. He also said they could sell advertisements on that sign as a way of generating more revenue.

One message that could be displayed is the distance from I-24 to downtown Cadiz – roughly 5 miles. Stevens said many people turn off of Exit 65, the Cadiz exit, and don’t see much, leading to disappointment.

“I think what will help us is the traffic that is heading toward Cadiz that would normally take the Bypass all the way around,” said Stevens.
