Trigg County High School’s weightlifting team finished third Saturday at a meet at Todd County Central.

The Wildcats finished behind Hopkinsville and McCracken County and topped Christian County, Todd County and Fort Knox.

“We were without several of our top lifters,” coach Coby Lewis said. “We had some at archery, church camp and junior days.”

Colton Livingston was Trigg’s top lifter of the day. He won the 220-pound class with a total lift of 575 pounds and set a new school record in the power clean with a lift of 300 pounds, topping the previous mark set in 2010 by Sean Beebe.

“The lift did not count toward his total as it was completed on a fourth attempt,” Lewis said. “It would have put his total up to 605 pounds for the day.”
