Earlier, the City’s Property and Parks Committee had made this recommendation, with the rationale that the City will avoid costly maintenance. Cadiz City Council member Gary Polete, who chairs that committee, explained their rationale during the meeting.
“After talking to [Cadiz City Attorney Allen Wilson] and discussing it amongst ourselves, it seems that our best option … is to put the cabin up as surplus property and be sold … by sealed bids,” said Polete.
The log cabin once housed the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist Commission, and for about the past year has housed the Cadiz Comfort Zone, a shop selling the products of local artisans. Comfort Zone recently moved to space owned by Reva’s Place on Marion Street and Main Street.
There were no representatives of the Cadiz Comfort Zone at the meeting.
