Trigg County student Dylan Proffitt, 11, of Gracey, was recently featured on the cover of Racer X Illustrated.

Trigg County student Dylan Proffitt of Gracey competed in one of the top off-road dirt bike races in the world Sunday in Bunnell, Fla.

Proffitt, 11, son of Eddie and Jessica Proffitt, is competing in the 13-stop Amsoil Grand National Cross Country Series. More than 1,500 racers competed in the Florida event, where Proffitt finished seventh in his class.

Proffitt is in the 85 7-11 year-old class and is a favorite to win a national championship this season. He rides a YZ85 with help from sponsors JPM Performance, FMF, FOX, 100% Goggles, his parents and grandfather and special thanks to West Ky. Door, Randy and Melissa Caldwell, Nick Gresham, Rick Cox and Ernie Cox.
