A canoe-kayak access point on the Little River near Roaring Springs Road could be on its way to being a reality.

At their Monday evening meeting, magistrates on the Trigg County Fiscal Court voted 5 – 0 for an agreement with property owner Michael Turnley for an access point off of Ky. 164, a deal first approved Thursday afternoon by Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist and Convention Commission members.

“There’s just some legal work that has to be done, and the County Attorney is looking into that,” said Trigg County Judge Executive Hollis Alexander.

District Five Magistrate Rick Nelson made the motion to try and obtain the lease and write up some legal documents. District Three Magistrate Jon Goodwin abstained. The Tourist Commission would pay $500 per year for a 30-year lease for 1 acre of property. Development of the land and maintenance would be the county’s responsibility, said Nelson.
